Craig Campbell
Craig Campbell is a librarian, writer, archaeologist, and historian based in London, UK and working at the British Library. With a degree in 18th – 19th century British History and a Masters Degree in Archaeological Practice, Craig is deeply passionate about all aspects of the heritage sector particularly involving the history of Britain.
He has been involved in countless writing projects including magazine journalism, short stories and novels, song writing, script writing
(including a speculative pilot for a Drake series), article and report writing, and most recently, a number of broadcast pieces for an award-winning podcast of short horror stories.
Craig’s experience with the Drake story began as the archivist at the museum replica of Sir Francis Drake’s famous vessel, the Golden Hinde, where he immersed himself in the fascinating life of the sea Captain. After extensive research, Craig appeared in an internationally broadcast documentary movie about Drake’s circumnavigation, Conquest of the seven seas; produced by Fernsehbüro, co-produced by Filmtank, Inicia Films and ZDF, and broadcast by Arte, Servus TV, Nordmedia, MFG Baden-Württemberg and FFHSH. His contribution to the project included script advice, research and co-presenting. He spent 6 months in California assisting the National Park Service in archiving the incredible collection of Drake research amassed by the Drake Navigators Guild. This opportunity gave Craig a unique insight into little-known aspects of his career. Craig maintains close connections and friendships with Guild members and will continue to work alongside the Guild to promote the story of Sir Francis Drake.
